If you are visiting the Itria Valley, you cannot miss the gastronomic tour in the dairy in Locorotondo, organised by our Antoniana, a local tour guide who accompanies clients and visitors to our holiday homes Trulli Loco and Trulli il Castagno.
Thanks to this food and wine experience in the Itria Valley, you will have the chance to get to know Apulian tradition up close, immersing yourself in a small dairy farm and discovering how the tasty local products are made.

Our gastronomic tour of the dairy, ‘From Milk to Mozzarella’, offers the opportunity to witness the processing of milk and discover how different types of Apulian cheeses are made.
During the guided tour of the dairy, the food and wine experience continues with the tasting of freshly made dairy products such as fresh mozzarella, burrata and stracciatella, not forgetting more mature products such as caciocavalli. You can taste the different types of cheese inside the cheese factory itself, immersed in the authentic and genuine atmosphere of local cheese production.
The gastronomic tour in the dairy is an immersive experience lasting 2½ hours, which can be done either in the morning or in the afternoon. Groups vary from 2 to 20 people, so you can experience Apulian tradition in a few or in company, delighting in food and friendship all at once.

But it doesn’t end there! If you want to enrich your gastronomic tour in the cheese factory, you can choose to do so during a guided tour of Locorotondo, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, located in one of the hills of the Itria Valley.
During the guided tour, you can admire the historic centre of Locorotondo and discover the origins of its curious name, which is due to the morphology of its circular layout.
You will see the typical white houses with sloping roofs, called ‘cummerse’, as well as the most characteristic monuments, such as the Church of San Giorgio and Palazzo Morelli.

So, the gastronomic tour “From milk to mozzarella” can literally be enjoyed on its own, or accompanied by a visit to Locorotondo, both of which are available all year round for guests of our holiday homes or visitors passing through.
The Valle d’Itria is an area waiting to be discovered, because it is full of small family-run businesses that make it possible not only to taste cheeses, but also wines and oils, among the best typical Apulian products.
Not only in Locorotondo, but also in Alberobello and Martina Franca, it is also possible to enjoy beautiful views of the countryside and existing crops, as well as see the typical trullo dwellings that characterise the area.
Don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy a unique experience in the Itria Valley, amid flavours and ancient traditions with our gastronomic tour of the dairy and much more. Contact us!
